Abstract : The neutrons emitted in heavy-ion fusion-evaporation (HIFE) reactions together with the gamma-rays cause unwanted backgrounds in gamma-ray spectra. Especially in the nuclear reactions, where relativistic ion beams (RIBs) are used, these neutrons are serious problem. They have to be rejected in order to obtain clearer gamma-ray peaks. In this study, the radiation energy and three criteria which were previously determined for separation between neutron and gamma-rays in the HPGe detectors have been used in artificial neural network (ANN) for improving of the decomposition power. According to the preliminary results obtained from ANN method, the ratio of neutron rejection has been improved by a factor of 1.27 and the ratio of the lost in gamma-rays has been decreased by a factor of 0.50. |

Abstract :In this sudy, the mixture of duckweeds of Lemna gibba L., Lemna minor L., Spirodela polyrrhiza and Wolffia arrhiza was used for treatment of leachate and changes of nutrients were investigated in the planted batch system. In the study, NH4+-N, NO2--N, NO3--N and O-PO4-3concentrations were determined. Experimental studies were maintained at 2 various depths (5 and 10 cm) and various hydraulic retention time. The maximum NH4+-N removal efficiency (75.3%) was determined in the reactor with 5 cm depth at day 9. It was observed that there was not any removal in concentrations of NO2- -N ve NO3- -N. The maximum O-PO43- removal efficiency (44.6%) was determined in the reactor with 5 cm depth. |

Abstract :In this sudy, the mixture of duckweeds of Lemna gibba L., Lemna minor L., Spirodela polyrrhiza and Wolffia arrhiza was used for treatment of leachate and changes of COD, pH and Electrical Conductivity (EC) were investigated in the planted batch system. Experimental studies were maintained in 4 reactors at room temperature. The maximum COD removal efficiency was determined as 62.2% and 60.1% in the reactors with 5 cm and 10 cm depth, respectively. The pH with an initial value of 7.91 was between 7.91-8.49 at various hydraulic retention times. The electrical conductivity with an initial value of 5.59 mS/cm was reached to a maximum of 9.46 mS/cm. |
